Hello!

I’m Alexis. An Educator and 21st Century Scholar Alum.

High School:  Portage

I’m Alexis. After graduating from Portage High School in 2015, I received free tuition to Western Governor’s University because I was a 21st Century Scholar.

In high school, I enjoyed activities like dance and cheerleading, and I spent time learning and growing in Diversity Club. These were great experiences, but I knew I needed a college education because I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. I knew attending college would allow me to reach my goal of becoming an educator.

I learned about 21st Century Scholars in middle school, and meeting the few requirements a year to keep this scholarship allowed me to graduate college debt free! This allowed me to create savings and purchase my first home without worrying about paying off student loans. I graduated from Western Governor’s University in 2018 with a bachelor’s in Elementary Education and am now a teacher at Scott Middle School back home in Lake County.

21st Century Scholars is a great opportunity that can take one major stressor off your plate. Reach out to your guidance counselor today to find out how you can keep your 21st Century Scholarship and enjoy these great benefits like me!
