After attending River Forest High School in Lake County, I received free tuition to Purdue Northwest because I was a 21st Century Scholar. In high school, I enjoyed being in many academic clubs and teams, like the Honor Society, Academic Team, and Spell Bowl, and I knew that college was the next step for my goals.

I chose to attend college because I wanted to build a foundation for success in life. I felt it was necessary to continue my education in order to meet my highest potential. Because I signed up for 21st  Century Scholars, I attended Purdue University Northwest tuition free, earned a bachelor’s in English, and now I’m an Assistant Principal at a middle school back home in Lake County. Receiving a 21st Century Scholarship provided me the opportunity to pursue an advanced degree in order to move into an administrative role at the secondary education level.
